Tests to Debunk Infertility

At Adhitri we go to the grass root level to identify the cause of your infertility. The series of test that are done at Adhitri are:

History & physical examination: First and foremost, our fertility expert will take your medical and fertility history. These questions will help our doctor to design a specific evaluation and potential treatment for you. In addition to the history taking, a physical examination will also be done.

Transvaginal ultrasound: Ultrasound is a tool to evaluate the structure of the uterus and ovaries. Ultrasound can detect abnormalities of the uterus such as fibroids, polyps, fallopian tube problems and abnormalities in the ovaries such as cysts. Additionally, the doctor will also assess the relative number of eggs.

Blood Work:  With the results of the physical examination done our doctor may request you to do blood tests. The common blood  tests include measurements of blood levels of hormones such as estradiol and FSH, TSH, and prolactin.

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG): This assessment is done to evaluate the fallopian tubal patency, uterine wall defects such as fibroids and polyps, and adhesions or scarring of the uterine cavity. Most uterine wall and tubal abnormalities identified  by HSG can be corrected surgically.

Semen analysis: It is the main test to examine the fertility component in the male partner. The 4 parameters analyzed are: 1) semen volume which ideally should be 1.5 to 2 ml 2) The normal concentration should be at least 15 million sperms per ml of semen 3) sperm motility is the normal motility of at least 50% (4) Morphology of the sperm/shape. An abnormal semen analysis warrants further investigations by the urologist.
